SHADE sets up voguing as a tool for viewing reality. Bożna Milan animates the texts from Buczek's SURPLUS project for the stage, making reference to the custom of “throwing shade” at one’s opponent in the heat of the voguing competition. SHADE is also a reference to sunglasses and its symbolics such as blindness, denial, disguise, anonymity. The project is a part of the series of artistic collaborations that Buczek undertakes on behalf of SURPLUS.
